Without knowing the story behind One Day Without Shoes and the cause it’s wrapped around, we can imagine it’s pretty alarming to see a group of passionate change makers hit the streets without shoes. 

Those of us who participate in the day of awareness are lucky enough that this is not something our communities see every day. That’s why we go barefoot; on behalf of those communities wherein this is commonplace.

We at TOMS help plan tons of events across the globe in honor and celebration of One Day Without Shoes, and support many campuses, communities, businesses and organizations committed to planning their own One Day events. 

And yet, even when hundreds of events sprout up, we’re still inspired and impassioned by you, TOMS fans, who continue to tell the TOMS story, many longitudes and latitudes away from our HQ in Southern California.

Last year in South America and South Africa especially, TOMS fans completely amazed us by hosting ODWS events that spread awareness to thousands – yes, thousands – of people who may not have otherwise heard about TOMS!

We got wind of participants baking TOMS treats, marching with homemade signs that told important educational facts, taking on arts & crafts projects, and, most importantly, finding their own unique voices to tell a powerful story of how we are changing the world.

This movement is only as big as we make it together, and so, on April 10, 2012, let’s go barefoot so that kids don’t have to, in as many countries as we can, with as many passionate people as we know, for a cause we all are helping in an impactful and amazing way!
